Bremen School Board Gives the Go-Ahead for Two Bond Projects

Bremen School Board members provided their approval for a couple of different projects when they met last Monday. Superintendent Dr. Jim White said board members moved forward with two projects that were discussed during a pre-bid meeting in July.

He explained, “The board went ahead and accepted to move forward with replacement of a chilling tower and [gave the] go ahead to replace our football lights at the end of the season with LED lighting so that will be a big improvement.”

Dr. White noted that the cost for the replacing the 30-year-old chilling tower at the Elementary School will be around $30,000.

He added that the price of taking down the existing lighting and installing brand new poles and lights at the football field will be around $494,000.

The superintendent mentioned that the current football lighting was installed in the 1960s and is on wooden poles while the replacements will be made of a much sturdier metal material.

The funding for these projects will come from the $4 million bond that was issued to the school corporation earlier this year.
