Marshall County Auditor Julie Fox is looking for an Interim GIS Deputy Auditor.
Fox explained to the Marshall County Council members Monday morning that the current GIS Auditor, Janet Howard, is leaving the position as she is the Republican candidate for Marshall County Recorder and has no opposition in the fall General Election. A new person needs to be trained for a few months before taking over the position at the end of the year. The GIS system is quite extensive with the taxing system and understanding the operation.
Commissioner Kevin Overmyer told the council members that he supports this hiring as there is a great responsibility with the position and a person needs to be in the seat early.
Recorder Marlene Mahler said an effective GIS Auditor is imperative as paperwork needs to be processed accurately and quickly within reason. The auditor’s office and the recorder’s office work hand-in-hand in this process.
The county council unanimously approved the Interim GIS Deputy Auditor position.
With that, an additional appropriation in the amount of $14,595 was approved for the candidate chosen to round out the end of the year. A salary ordinance amendment for the position was also approved. The salary range is $19.83 to $20.85.
