A La Porte man died in a work site accident in Marshall County on Thursday, July 5.
According to Marshall County Coroner John Grolich, around 11:50 a.m. ET that day, workers were attempting to move the location of a piece of earth moving equipment that sorts dirt and rocks. At that time, 46-year-old Dino Hopper exited a front end loader and was near the stacker when a set of wheels came down him, pinning him to the ground and dragging him several feet. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner.
Hopper had been employed with the company for nearly 20 years, according to the report.
The Marshall County Coroner was assisted at the scene by Deputy Coroner Bobby Cooper, Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, and Plymouth Fire Department.
OSHA is expected to conduct an investigation.
