Argos Town Council Finalizes Decision to Switch to Bi-Weekly Recycling Pick-Up

An addendum to the agreement that the Town of Argos has with Republic Services was signed when town council members met last week.

At their final meeting in June, members decided to proceed with their trash provider’s recommendation to switch to every other week recycling pick-up. When members met on Thursday, they finalized the decision by signing the addendum, according to Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney.

She noted that the new pick-up schedule will not impact trash pick up and only recycling will be collected on alternating weeks from now on. Mullaney said that a calendar with the new recycling pick-up dates were sent out to residents, along with a flier with helpful recycling tips to cut down on contamination.

The Clerk-Treasurer Mullaney mentioned that town officials felt comfortable switching over to the bi-weekly recycling pick-up since only about one-third of the town recycles.

However, she said if you live in a larger household and find that the new schedule is not conducive with your recycling habits, contact the clerk-treasurer’s office and they’ll help you work something out. The number to call is 574-892-5717.
