Plymouth American Legion to Host Flag Retirement Ceremony

Members of the Plymouth American Legion Post #27 will be hosting a flag retirement ceremony on Sunday, June 24 at 1 p.m.

The ceremony provides proper, respectful disposal of unserviceable flags. According to Legion officials, it was in 1937 when a flag retirement ceremony was established and that it be the official ceremony for the destruction of unserviceable American Flags.

The Plymouth American Legion Post members will hold the ceremony at their post location at 1040 E. Jefferson Street. Any members of the public are welcome to drop off flags at the legion post in a white container outside of the facility or take it inside for holding until the ceremony. Residents are also welcome to bring retired flags with them to the post home on the day of the ceremony.

The public is welcome to attend the ceremony.
