Crews from the Marshall County Highway Department continue to perform chip and seal work on several county roads this week. The process is expected to continue through June 29, weather permitting.
Highway Supervisor Jason Peters says road closures will occur during this process. He asks drivers to avoid the areas of roads are closed. Transport tanks will be delivering asphalt emulsion along roadsides close to the sealing crews. There may be times when vehicles may not be able to pass.
Peters warns that once all of the materials are applied to the road in the chip and seal process and the road opens, drivers should drive with caution. High speed causes stones to move and dislodge from the surface and will not adhere properly which can lead to water damage and potholes. Peters suggests allowing extra time to stop and avoid spinning out when accelerating from a stop.
Peters said he appreciates everyone’s cooperation during this curing process.
