Marshall County Plan Commission President Stan Klotz went before the county council Monday morning to ask for an interim deputy plan commission director position with the impending retirement of Ralph Booker.
He asked that outgoing Plan Director Ralph Booker be held in an interim deputy plan commission director position to help the new Plan Director Ty Adley in getting acclimated to the office. The position would be paid as determined by Booker’s retirement package.
“It may not happen. The board will have to decide the 28th at their meeting if they want to do this or not. I don’t know if the timing will allow it. I guess there’s some issues with Ralph retiring on his retirement plan. We have to follow certain guidelines and I’m not familiar with all of them,” said Klotz.
Klotz said the money could come from the secretarial line item in the plan commission’s budget. Those funds would need to be transferred into a new line item in the budget for the interim position.
He added that there may be a lag time as it’s not known when Adley can be in place. Booker’s last day is set for June 30 and it’s the hope that Adley can start July 1, but the timing is not solid.
The county council members did approve the position of interim deputy plan commission director. The plan commission members will need to approve the position as well when they meet later this month.
