The John Glenn School Board members approved transfer tuition requests that total 423 so far this upcoming school year.
Superintendent Richard Reese said Tuesday night that the students are already pre-registered to start their education with the John Glenn School Corporation for the 2018-2019 school year. He said Corporation Secretary Lisa Sleek and the four building principals contacted all of the previous transfer students and new transfer students.
“We’re excited,” said Reese. “We’ll have some more along the way, but it says a great deal about your school corporation and the ability to help us attract quality individuals, quality curriculum, quality instruction, and quality staff so that we can provide services.”
A total count will be taken after the first week of school in August.
Reese assured the board members that they are not looking to overload any grade level at any section at any of the schools. He noted that additional students will mean more dollars coming into the school corporation as tuition money follows the student.
At this time last year, 370 transfer students were pre-registered for classes. The number of transfer students totaled just over 400 at the beginning of the last school year.
