Argos Town Council members took steps last Wednesday to designate the Industrial Park on Dewey Street an economic development area.
Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney said that a public hearing was held to give citizens a chance to weigh in on the matter. She said no input was provided so the hearing was closed.
During the regularly scheduled meeting, council members approved a resolution that finalizes the designation. Mullaney said this was the first step that officials had to take in order to turn the area into a TIF district.
The town’s Industrial Park is a 75-acres shovel-ready site. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was recently held for the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation Manufacturing Center that was completed there. Mullaney previously mentioned that officials are hoping that other companies will consider developing in the area soon.
