The Plymouth School Board continues preparing for next school year. Last week, board members approved the textbook fees for the 2018-2019 school year.
Superintendent Andy Hartley said that in spite of this being a textbook adoption year, the changes were relatively minor. “No significant changes, if any, at K-8,” he said. “Mr. Coffman, you had a few at the high school level. I know that was a part of the adoption process last month, but again, just a couple courses. So very minimal changes in textbook fees going into next year.”
Meanwhile, school breakfast and lunch prices will stay the same for next year.
Board members also granted school officials permission to apply for various grants. Director of Quality Programs Brooke Busse explained that some are competitive grants, while others are federal grants that the school corporation applies for every year.
Meanwhile, Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center will once again provide nurses for summer school. Plymouth Schools Business Manager Kandi Tinkey said the cost for summer school nurses went down by $135, compared to last year. The school board approved the arrangement, as an amendment to the school corporation’s contract with Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center.
