Marshall County Law Enforcement Youth Camp to Begin June 22

The second annual Marshall County Law Enforcement Youth Camp is set for Friday, June 22 through Sunday, June 24.

According to Sheriff Matt Hassel, the camp is open to seventh and eighth grade girls and boys who are interested in learning more about law enforcement. Sheriff’s deputies, officers, counselors and instructors will have S.W.A.T. team demonstrations, along with presentations from the bomb squad, K9 officers and those who work with police and medical helicopters. Camp attendees will learn about gun safety from Indiana Law Enforcement Academy certified firearms instructors.

Hassel added that students will learn valuable leadership skills from the trained officers leading the youth camp.

The Marshall County Law Enforcement Youth Camp will be at the Potawatomi Wildlife Park at 16998 State Road 331 in Tippecanoe. Parents may sign up their children by calling the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department at 574-936-3187 ext. 272 or email Deputy Travis O’Neal at traviso@co.marshall.in.us. The camp is free. Sheriff Hassel will make arrangements for those students needing transportation to the camp.
