A church in rural Ligonier was able to raise funds to purchase five Indiana State Police K9 ballistic vests.
Richville United Methodist Church Pastor Gary J. Ford and his congregation gave vests to three K9s with the Fort Wayne Police Post and two to the Bremen Police Post. Master Trooper David E. Caswell and K9 Chase and Trooper Kyle A. Glaze and K9 Nala from the Bremen Post were presented with the vests Wednesday afternoon.
Pastor Ford said in a press release that the focus of the fundraising effort was to keep K9s and handlers safe in the future.
The church congregation raised the money over the course of three months this year.
