An Argos woman lost her life in a two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon.
According to the Indiana State Police, a Nissan driving by 46-year-old Alejandro Rodriguez Campos of Indianapolis was driving southbound on U.S. 31 just south of the U.S. 6 interchange when it was sideswiped by a Jeep driven by 54-year-old Rebecca J. Lee of Argos. The collision caused Lee’s Jeep to roll an unknown number of times. She was partially ejected as a result of the crash.
Marshall County Coroner John Grolich pronounced Lee dead at the scene. The occupants in Campos’ vehicle were not injured.
The southbound lanes on U.S. 31 were closed for several hours so Indiana State Police officers could properly reconstruct the scene of the crash. Police do not suspect alcohol or drugs to be a factors in this crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
The Indiana State Police was assisted at the scene by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, North Township Fire Department and EMS, and INDOT.
