A couple of unique field trip opportunities available to Triton students were up for approval during last week’s school board meeting.
When school board members met last Monday, they considered two trip requests. One request came from science teacher Dawn Slein for a study abroad trip to Ecuador. Superintendent Jeremy Riffle said the proposed trip would be for the science club and it would take place in June of 2019.
Additionally, members considered a trip request from physics teacher Tina Zechiel for her class to visit Six Flags in Chicago. However, as Superintendent Riffle explained, it won’t be just any field trip to the amusement park.
“So Six Flags actually puts on an engineering and technology day,” Riffle noted, “so our physics class would attend that and obviously there are educational pieces that go along with that.”
School board members provided unanimous approval for both requests. In his report, Superintendent Riffle mentioned that he was thankful to the teachers for submitting the requests and giving students the chance to go to places that they may not otherwise have the opportunity to visit.
