Plymouth School Board members voted to officially amend their 2017-18 school calendar to account for a needed make-up day when they met Tuesday night.
Superintendent Andy Hartley previously reported that due to a recommendation from the Indiana Department of Education based on feedback they received from districts who piloted the eLearning program, it is recommended that schools should not have more than three eLearning days in a row. Hartley stated that this policy was incorporated into the school’s eLearning procedures.
When members met this week, Hartley reminded them that when the city was experiencing flooding in February, multiple days were missed. He said while students were able to observe three of those days as e-Learning days, since a fourth day was missed on February 26th, it will need to be made up in-class.
At their March school board meeting, members tabled the topic in order to allow the superintendent to weigh all available options and come up with the best solution.
On Tuesday Hartley recommended amending this year’s school calendar to reflect May 31st as the last student day and June 1st as the last day for teachers. The recommendation was unanimously approved by all school board members.
