Attorney Derek Jones provided the Argos Town Council with an update over a property that was behind on property taxes when members met last Wednesday.
According to Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney, council members were previously informed that the company Argos Enterprises was about 4 years behind on property taxes.
Since the taxes were no longer being paid to the county, county officials issued the company’s tax certificates to the town of Argos. Up until the back taxes were paid, there was a lien against the property and the town had the option to send it to auction if the taxes remained unpaid long enough.
However, members were informed last week that the company paid all taxes that were due and officially redeemed their property in full. Mullaney stated the members were pleased to learn that the company resumed full ownership and no further actions will need to be taken.
