At each school board meeting, Triton Superintendent Jeremy Riffle takes some time to recognize ways that students and staff are exhibiting the core values of the school corporation.
Riffle explained, “The core values are continuous improvement, shared leadership, social responsibility, accountability, evidence-based decision making and high expectations.” When school board members met Monday night, he acknowledged various examples of how the core values are being displayed at Triton.
For the value of continuous improvement, he recognized the teacher’s association discussions and leadership and principal meetings that were held last week. He said these meetings are an example of how the staff is always striving to reflect on practices and implement positive changes.
When discussing the value of shared leadership, he reiterated his gratitude to the school staff, local law enforcement, private investigators and the members of the Cyber Crimes Unit who helped prevent any harm from coming from the threat that was reported at the end of February.
According to Superintendent Riffle, social responsibility is being displayed by the students who are representing their school, family and community with excellence. In addition, he said this value is displayed by the dedicated coaches who help lift students to a place where they can succeed.
He said that accountability is apparent from administrators who continue to keep students and teachers liable for their actions and behaviors through observations and evaluations.
Riffle said that the student assistance team process that is in place at both schools is an example of the core value of evidence-based decision making as it focuses on students and their individual needs.
And last but not least to discuss the value of high expectations, Riffle highlighted the teachers and coaches who continue to invest in students by building relationships with them and holding them accountable both inside and outside of school.
