The Lincoln Junior High School project is now approaching the construction phase. The Plymouth School Board voted Tuesday to issue construction documents for bidding.
Superintendent Andy Hartley told board members that Barton-Coe-Vilamaa has wrapped up design work. “Design is good. You’ve seen it, the layout, the renderings. Nothing has changed from the last time you’ve seen that,” he said. “We’ve just been narrowing in on greater levels of detail with finishes and everything. Also, the final estimate is looking good, as well, and so we’re ready to have your permission to authorize Skillman to issue the bid documents.”
The construction bids will be advertised March 12 and 19, and a pre-bid meeting for interested contractors will be held March 20. Bids will be opened April 10. They’ll be reviewed by The Skillman Corporation, the project’s construction manager. The school board is expected to make a decision during its next meeting on April 17.
Project officials say the project includes about eight alternates, that could be dropped if bids come in higher than expected. Those include a proposed wrestling room, terrazzo flooring, and upgraded water pipes. If the project remains on schedule, teachers will be able to start moving into the new Lincoln Junior High School in May of 2020.
