The Marshall County Election Board took action Tuesday morning to include new legislation that pertains to extracting early votes.
Clerk Deb VanDeMark explained that a vote may need to be withdrawn in the event that a voter who cast an early vote dies before Election Day. The current procedure involves a tedious process. Instead, a Voter ID will be assigned to the voter when they sign in and the machine on which the voter casts a ballot will be noted on the ballot receipt so that information can be easily obtained to correct. The 10-digit code can be entered and it will speed up the process.
The board members voted unanimously to approve a resolution regarding that information. It will be filed with the Indiana Election Division.
Early voting in Marshall County begins April 10.
