The Town of Bremen received insurance money for equipment damaged in the recent flood event.
According to Bremen Town Attorney Anthony Wagner, the furnace and cooling units were damaged at the wastewater treatment facility including other factors that help run the buildings. Wagner said the insurance coverage was able to cover the replacement costs without much extra needed to fund necessary repairs. He mentioned that officials are reconsidering the placement of some of the equipment to avoid damage if a flood event occurs again.
Other damage sustained at the wastewater treatment facility is still being assessed that isn’t covered under this particular insurance policy.
At the crest of the flood event, the wastewater treatment facility was under close watch as two to three feet of water surrounded the plant. Crews worked non-stop to pump out water and monitor the level so electrical components weren’t compromised.
