Officials behind a proposed detour through Plymouth during the planned reconstruction of the Baker Ditch Crossing this summer have changed plans. The ditch crossing is east of the State Road 17 intersection and west of the interchange on U.S. 31.
City Engineer Rick Gaul told Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members this week that the plans have changed.
“Everything was looking really good and it seemed like by going down Hoham Drive,” said Gaul. “They started looking into it deeper and in order to detour to a city street they had to go through a bunch of work to the State Board of Accounts and the Attorney General. They said there wasn’t time to do it. So, essentially, they did allow us to talk with the Blueberry Festival. Basically, we requested that the south ramps be left open and put up signs in order to direct traffic for people to move in and out.”
Gaul said restrictions would be put in place on the off ramps during the Blueberry Festival in September.
