A Plymouth man was arrested early Saturday morning after speeding on U.S. 30 in Marshall County.
Marshall County police say 29-year-old Kyle Wickens was traveling at 97 mph near Gumwood Road when an officer initiated a traffic stop. The officer was trying to catch up to Wickens’ vehicle but Wickens reportedly increased his speed. According to the report, the officer traveled in excess of 125 mph close to King Road.
Wickens turned south onto King Road and another attempt was made to stop the vehicle just north of the Marshall County Highway Department, but Wickens reportedly kept going. The officer turned on the siren and Wickens pulled over just south of the highway department.
After Wickens was placed into custody, police say a strong odor of alcohol was detected from Wickens’ breath. He allegedly refused field sobriety testing and was taken to the Plymouth hospital for a certified blood test. The test reportedly showed that Wickens was four times over the legal limit of the consumption of alcohol.
Wickens was booked into the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle with a BAC of .15 or more, operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering, reckless driving and operating a vehicle without ever receiving a driver’s license. His bond was set at $1,505 cash.
