Marshall County is under a flood warning and a watch level travel advisory.
Marshall County EMA Director Clyde Avery says the Yellow River and Tippecanoe River are expected to crest later this week well above Major Flood Stage. The Yellow River is expected to crest at 16.4 feet by 7 a.m. on Thursday and the Tippecanoe River is expected to crest at 14 feet by 7 a.m. on Saturday. Avery says residents can expect flooding of urban areas and small streams, ditches and creeks.
Avery has already received phone calls from residents experiencing water in basements and in garages.
The Marshall County Highway Department has posted several high water signs in areas. Four roads are currently closed including 7th from Jarrah to King Road, 2B between Birch and Beech Roads, 1st from Miami to Gumwood, and Ironwood from 6B to 7th. According to the Bremen Police Department, Shady Side Park is under water.
Sand and sandbags are available at the old Marshall County EMA office located at 9515 King Road in Plymouth. Assistance can be provided by Marshall County Community Corrections Director Ward Byers. The Town of Bremen has sand bags available. For more information, call (574) 546-4324.
