The Marshall County Commissioners have issued a disaster declaration, in response to this week’s record-breaking flooding. The declaration says that water accumulations are making driving conditions hazardous. Residents are encouraged to stay off the roads, and to use caution if they do need to travel.
County officials also warn that a lot of traffic will lead to dangerous working conditions for emergency responders and road crews working to restore safe driving conditions. Citizens are urged to comply with emergency measures, cooperate with public officials in executing emergency operations plans, and obey the directions of officers.
The state of emergency is expected to remain in effect until Monday, March 5 at 4:00 p.m. It includes all of Marshall County, including the City of Plymouth and the towns of Argos, Bourbon, Bremen, Culver, and LaPaz.
Emergency Management Agency Director Clyde Avery also reminds those whose homes have experienced flood damage to report it to the Marshall County EMA at 574-936-3740. He says no financial assistance is available at this point, but having as much information as possible will help the county move forward with the process. Damage may also be reported to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.
