The deadline is approaching for candidates to file to run in the May primary. Candidates have until Friday at noon to file their paperwork with the county clerk’s office. The list of candidates continues to grow in Marshall County. Democrat Angie Rupchoch-Schafer has filed to run for the District 4 County Council seat, challenging incumbent Republican Judy Stone.
Several town council seats have also drawn some interest recently. Republican Dylan Colburn has filed to run for the Argos Town Council. In Bourbon, town council member Les McFarland is running for reelection, while Jordan O. Fuller is also seeking a council seat. Meanwhile, Democrat Rich West has filed to run for a seat on the Culver Town Council, along with incumbent Republicans David Beggs and Sally Ricciardi.
However, the Bourbon and Culver town council races will not be narrowed down during the May primary, but during town conventions later in the year. That means candidates have until August 1 to file, according to staff in the Marshall County Clerk’s Office.
The most highly contested races heading into the May primary remain County Recorder and District 1 County Commissioner. Each have three candidates running as Republicans.
