Plymouth Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt updated the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members Monday night about fuel prices with the city’s contract with Ceres Solutions.
He reported that the gasoline came to $2.40 a gallon and the number two on-road diesel fuel came to $2.695 per gallon.
“When you actually total those up to what we bid our fuel costs tentatively for the year would be $137,437.50,” mentioned Marquardt. “There have been years in the past where we’ve had to buy an extra load of fuel of the year. It all depends on how it all falls out to what we have. For just a reference from last year price-wise, gasoline was at $2.283 and diesel we were at $2.53. So, it’s a slight increase for each.”
Marquardt also asked permission to start the bidding process for a new street sweeper and a patch machine. The money to purchase the equipment is budgeted in this year’s budget. The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members approved the request with a unanimous vote.
