Winter Storm Warning in Effect until Tomorrow Evening

Marshall County Emergency Management representatives issued a Winter Storm Warning for Starke, Marshall, Elkhart and Kosiusko counties this morning. The warning will be in effect from 7 a.m EST today until 7 p.m. Monday, December 25th. They’re predicting 5 to 8 inches of total snow & strong winds may cause travel issues.

Weather officials are warning that heavy snow is expected. Plan on difficult travel conditions as accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are expected today. Lake effect snow accumulations of 2 to 3 inches are expected tonight.

Additional details provided say to expect West winds of 15 to 20 mph with gusts as high as 30 mph on Christmas day. These winds will cause patchy, blowing and drifting snow.

A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected. Emergency management officials advise that if you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Additional blankets, a car charger for your phone, a snow brush/ice scraper and salt are also good items to have on hand.
