Plymouth City Councilman Bill Walters asked his fellow Plymouth City Council members to look into the traffic pattern at Jefferson and Plum Streets.
Walters said the issue was discussed in prior meetings, but the issue there hasn’t been resolved.
“We talked once about possibly widening or putting some lines or something on that intersection,” commented Walters. “If somebody is turning off of Jefferson onto Plum Street to go north, if the person is parked next to the curb and a person coming south is next to the curb there’s room for somebody to turn. If not, there’s a real problem.”
Fire Chief Rod Miller previously brought that concern to the council because it’s not a safe intersection for fire trucks.
Parking is restricted close to the corner intersection. Several solutions were once discussed such as striping the street for traffic direction traveling south and extending the yellow painting from the corner further north.
The matter will go before the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety for discussion.
