If an emergency forces the evacuation of a Plymouth retirement community, plans are in place to house residents at a couple local schools.
The Plymouth School Board approved a memorandum of understanding with Miller’s Merry Manor last week, at the recommendation of Superintendent Andy Hartley. “This is not a new agreement,” he explained. “It just needed updated, and it outlines, in case of a disaster where Miller’s Merry Manor needs to evacuate, they can utilize one or both of our schools until they’re able to reenter. So [Plymouth Schools Director of Safety and Security] Mr. [Ted] Brown has worked on that. I appreciate his efforts in collaborating with them.”
Under the agreement, residents would be taken to Menominee and Webster elementary schools for emergency temporary housing.
