A few firefighters from the Plymouth Fire Department are participating in training courses, but need to be included on the city’s liability insurance in order to complete part of their classes.
Fire Chief Rod Miller told the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members last week that the coverage is needed for the trainees’ practical skills training.
“Nothing would change,” explained Miller. “It would just allow Jeanine (Xaver, Clerk-Treasurer) to forward the liability insurance coverage to the Goshen Health System for them to participate in the practical skills clinicals that they have to do. There is no cost to this. It’s just for us to be able to cover them under the city’s liability for them to function as a city employee or on a part-time volunteer basis.”
The board members approved the request with a unanimous vote.
