Town of Culver Designated a Stellar Community

Two years of hard work has paid off for the Town of Culver. Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch called the Culver Town Hall on Wednesday afternoon and told a crowd of anxious Stellar supporters that the town is officially designated as a stellar community through the Stellar Communities Designation Program.

Town Manager Jonathan Leist says the work now starts on several projects listed within the application.

“We go to Indianapolis next week for a celebration. We also have one here in Culver with the team in a few weeks in November. Then we get started on our projects. I think the first on our schedule will be the Culver Beach Lodge. That’ll probably be the first project we move forward with. There are so many thank yous – everyone who participated. Business owners, committee members, and residents, thank you,” commented Leist.

With the Stellar designation, several million dollars will be available to help fund the Sand Hill Farm workforce development housing project, the Cavalier Sports Park, the Lake Maxinkuckee Walking and Biking Trail, the Culver Beach Lodge, and other smaller projects within the application.

The Town of Culver was a finalist for the designation last year and narrowly lost to Corydon. That’s not the case this year as Culver won the designation in Division II over the City of Union City in Randolph County and the Town of Churubusco in Whitley County.
