The Marshall County Highway Department has completed several miles of paving this year along with berming, pug mill operations, pothole repairs, chip and sealing operations and double chip and sealing operations. With all of that activity, Highway Administrator Laurie Baker says the highway department is seeing a bit of a revenue bump this year.
“We did see an uptick in our revenue in MVH (Motor Vehicle Highway) this October,” said Baker. “We received $440,397. We had only approximately $349,000 the month before. Compared to last year and comparing this year we’re only up $18,341 because other months have been very low. Local Roads and Streets is kind of the same way, but we are ahead of last year with a little over $57,000.”
Highway Supervisor Jason Peters said work continues on Nutmeg Ridge from Muckshaw to Nutmeg Road. He anticipates that work to be done by the weekend.
