John Glenn School Board Approves Resolution to Reduce Appropriations

The John Glenn School Board approved a resolution Tuesday night that would reduce an appropriation by $69,000 to carry over into next year’s budget.

Business Manager Tom Bendy explained that the school board has purchased all of the school buses they are going to purchase this year and the board has the opportunity to move the unused funds to next year’s budget.

“What that does is it allows me to carry forward that dollar amount into next year’s budget,” said Bendy. “If I didn’t do that, they’re going to assume that we spent all of that money that we had budgeted this year. It just gives me the ability to go ahead and budget and appropriate more money for 2018. I’ve already built it into the budget. This is just a process in order to make it official for the Department of Local Government Finance,”

The board is looking to purchase two larger buses next year and if there is money left over there may be purchase of two mini buses.

The board members unanimously approved the resolution.
