Nine grant applications were recently approved to receive funds from the John Glenn Education Foundation.
Superintendent Richard Reese told the John Glenn School Board members this week that $7,500 to $8,000 worth of grants were awarded to teachers who applied for project funding. He added that the names of teachers who applied for the grants will be released at the next school board meeting in November along with the specific projects and grant amounts.
The application requests weren’t fully funded, but a portion of those requests were approved for money.
Teachers can apply for John Glenn Education Foundation grants for their out-of-the-box ideas to enhance the learning experience for students. Grants will also be awarded for enhanced training, teaching techniques or new styles of learning.
Superintendent Reese noted that a gala will be held as a fundraising opportunity in February.
“You might put Feb. 17 on your calendar,” explained Reese. “The foundation will be having a gala at Swan Lake Resort that evening. It will not be a black tie affair. It is the first gala and silent auction experience. We’re hoping that it could be a very successful time with many people in our community participating.”
More information about the event will be released as the date draws near.
