Does the phrase “family friendly blast from the past” appeal to you? If so, you have to check out the 7th annual Rentown Old Fashion Days. The event will feature 55 to 60 vendors selling various foods, crafts and other items. Proceeds from the event go toward Rolling Meadows, the Amish traditional school in Bremen. Today kicks off at 8 am and things will finish up around 4 p.m.
There will be a black smith, rug weaver and soap maker as well as corn husking and a huge bake sale. Individuals have the opportunity to see antique tractors, steam engines and witness a draft horse tug-of-war.
A hide-and-seek haystack game is scheduled for children. Kids will be divided up by age and will be able to look in the haystack for hidden treasures. Camel rides and a petting zoo will also be available.
Take some time this weekend to step away from modern technology to reflect on the past and admire the handy-work of your fellow community members. The event is hosted at 2640 Birch Rd., 3 miles east of Bremen.
