The Care and Share Ministries of Marshall County has placed its operations on hold amid an investigation of its executive director.
The ministry is suspended until Dec. 31, 2017 and will meet once a month to evaluate future plans.
Executive Director Rev. Jim Irwin has been placed on unpaid administrative leave. He is accused of offering money to several women in exchange for sexual favors. Drug exchanges reportedly occurred in some of the incidents. He is charged with dealing in a scheduled II controlled substance as a Level 6 felony, two counts of promoting prostitution as a Level 5 felony, dealing in a substance represented to be a controlled substance as a Level 6 felony, and attempted promotion of prostitution as a Level 5 felony.
The Care and Share Ministries Board of Directors is cooperating with police in the investigation.
Meanwhile the board is coordinating plans with the United Way, local churches and ministerial associations to help those in need. Local churches are available for assistance as well as the township trustee. According to President Rev. Jaree Kratzer, any donations the ministry may receive will be used for administrative expenses and toward future operations of the ministry.
