The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety received one proposal for occupancy in the old firehouse on Center Street. The building hasn’t had a tenant in two years.
The owners of His Small Wonders, a preschool and daycare business, applied to use the old firehouse for their needs. Their current facility is being sold and they need to be out by Aug. 31.
They believe that the location is great for students and families especially for commuting and proximity to the downtown area.
They have 33 students and the school is active on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. High school students whose future includes early childhood education also work with the group so it also acts as a learning center. They plan to do some painting and other cosmetic repairs before they occupy the building on Labor Day.
The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members approved the short term lease at a rate of $650 a month.
