The Marshall County Highway Department will be closing South Michigan Street for a few hours this week in order to do more road work.
Highway Supervisor Jason Peters said crews will apply a fog sealant on South Michigan Street on Wednesday, Aug. 30 or Thursday, Aug. 31. The road will be closed during this process. They plan on beginning that work around 9 a.m. and dry time is about two to two-and-a-half hours depending on the temperature.
Peters asks that drivers be patient as the work progresses. A fog seal operation helps preserve a chipped and sealed road to extend protection of the road.
Peters added that contractors will be working on 7th Road on Wednesday, Aug. 30 to repair asphalt issues. Repaving of that road will be Thursday, Aug. 31 if weather permits.
