The Lake Max Triathlon is set for Saturday, Aug. 12 in Culver.
Pre-race activities begin on Friday with packet pick-up and body markings from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the registration tent. A concert in the Culver Town Park with the Kevin McDaniel Band will begin at 7 p.m.
The event begins Saturday at 6:30 a.m. with registration. Participants must be checked in no later than 7:55 a.m. The triathlon starts with the first wave at 8:30 a.m. with six waves following in three minute increments. The first leg involves swimming around Naval Pier at the Culver Academy, a bike ride around the lake and a 5K run through town. A children’s event will take place entirely on the Culver Academy’s campus and it begins at 10:15 a.m.
A post-race meal will be offered at 10:30 and the awards program is at 11:15 a.m.
Culver Police Chief Wayne Bean urges motorists to travel carefully around Culver on Saturday morning as around 500 participants are expected to take part in this event. Several of his officers will be providing security and directing traffic during the Lake Max Triathlon.
