The John Glenn School Board recreated a position that hasn’t been a part of the school corporation for over five years.
Superintendent Richard Reese requested the return of the Director of Guidance to the corporation. The position was eliminated when the board had to make drastic cuts to the operating budget a few years ago.
Reese feels that the other counselors in the corporation could use assistance in overseeing operations, especially with large grant opportunities coming up.
Reese said the current guidance counselors would be offered the position and interviews will be conducted by the superintendent. If he feels the proper candidate has passed the interview process, he will bring a candidate recommendation to be approved by the board.
The candidate could be announced by the next board meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 15, which is the first day of school for students.
The school board unanimously approved the request.
