One person was arrested on Saturday night after leading several police agencies on a vehicle pursuit and a standoff in Marshall County.
An officer with the Bremen Police Department reportedly attempted a traffic stop in the area of West Shore Drive at Lake of the Woods. Police say the driver, Donald Dickson, Jr., refused to stop and led the officer on a pursuit on 4th Road. The 20-minute pursuit ended after Dickson lost control of his car and crashed into a cornfield at the intersection of Hickory Road and 9B Road, according to police.
After the accident, Dickson allegedly held the female passenger hostage by holding a knife to her throat. Police say the standoff lasted several minutes before Dickson released her and allowed her to exit the vehicle. Dickson reportedly continued to resist officer’s commands and a taser was deployed. Dickson was then taken into custody.
Bremen police officers say their investigation uncovered information that the vehicle was stolen out of southern Indiana. In addition, the license plate was false and fictitious and Dickson was wanted on two active arrest warrants in Marshall County.
Dickson was booked into the Marshall County Jail on charges to be determined by the Marshall County Prosecutor.
The Bremen Police Department was assisted by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, Bourbon Police Department, and Plymouth Police Department.
