The crowdfunding effort for a proposed amphitheater in the Culver Town Park was a success.
A little over $45,000 was gathered in the fundraising campaign. The opportunity was put forward in order to get an Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority matching grant of $30,000 toward the project. The project also has grant support from the Marshall County Community Foundation in the amount of $25,000. The estimated cost of the project is $143,000.
The deadline to submit funding for this particular project has ended, but donations may still be made by calling the Culver Town Hall at (574) 842-3140.
The preliminary plans for the Lake Maxinkuckee Amphitheater call for four rows of tiered grass seating with concrete retaining walls. Additional open seating areas would be available around the stage and under trees. When complete, outdoor concerts will be featured along with movie nights, dances, small stage shows and presentations. The area can also be used as a place to relax with friends and family.
The preliminary project timeline puts the completion of the engineering and design work in September with the construction of the amphitheater beginning in October and ending in April. A dedication ceremony is tentatively scheduled in May of 2018.
