Two men were arrested after they were allegedly found to be impaired after a car accident.
Officers from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department responded to a single vehicle accident on Olive Trail at 13th Road just after midnight on Sunday. Police say the occupant of the vehicle left the scene in another vehicle but the occupants were found a short distance from the crash site.
Police say the driver involved in the accident was identified as 22-year-old Donald Boyd of Plymouth and he was reportedly found to be impaired. He was taken to the hospital for an evaluation and later booked into the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction and leaving the scene of an accident.
The driver who picked up Boyd and drove him from the scene, 28-year-old Jacob Castilla of Mishawaka, was taken into custody by an officer with the Plymouth Police Department. Castilla was first transported to the hospital for a certified chemical test. He was then booked into the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of assisting a criminal, operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering person and operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a blood alcohol concentration greater than .08%.
