The Triton School Board members on Monday night voted to continue with a building project that will begin in 2018.
Bonds will be issued to build a new gym at the high school, install a new roof at the high school and purchase a new heating and cooling system at the elementary school.
Superintendent Donna Burroughs said she distributed comment forms for residents to offer their opinion on how to proceed with the proposed plans. She said the overall consensus was to move forward.
“I think I only had one say, ‘…use the old gym. We don’t need a new gym’,” said Burroughs. “Everybody else at the meetings said that we should go forward and build the new gym, replace the roof at the high school and a new heating and cooling system at the elementary.”
Burroughs said the project cost is not quite finalized.
“Altogether, if we do the projects as outlined, it’ll be between $7.3 and $7.5 million. We haven’t gotten the exact final figures from the architects. We’ve been working with ballpark figures.”
The public hearing for that bond project is scheduled for Monday, June 12.
