State Officials Gathering Data From Recent Storm Damage

State officials want to hear from homeowners, renters, businesses and private nonprofit organizations that sustained uninsured damage from the recent severe storms and flooding.

The Indiana Department of Homeland Security is gathering information to determine whether federal disaster assistance can be pursued to offset losses from severe storms that started on April 26th and are continuing.

Individuals will be asked to provide their name, address, telephone number and the type of damage the property sustained. Losses can include structural damage to homes and loss of personal property.

Individuals without Internet access are urged to contact a friend, family member or neighbor for assistance or visit a library or other public facility to use a computer. If those are not viable options, contact your county emergency management agency to report damage.

Contact information is available at http://dhs.in.gov/2797.htm.

State officials stress completing the form is not an application for federal assistance from FEMA, nor is it a guarantee the state will receive funds.
