Plymouth School Superintendent Search Continues

The Plymouth Community School Board will soon be interviewing candidates for superintendent.

The application deadline has passed and interviews will begin May 9. The corporation received more than a dozen applications for the position.

Current Superintendent Dan Tyree will be leaving the Plymouth Community School Corporation on June 30 after 41 years in education. All but two years of his career have been served with Plymouth schools.

A handful of residents at Tuesday night’s school board meeting requested a meet and greet type of event for the candidates as they feel the public should have a say in who the board should select as a superintendent. School Board Attorney Jeff Houin commented that the board is bound by law to respect the confidentiality of the candidates and it is by their elected office that they make the selection of the candidate for superintendent and other personnel decisions.

An action to employ a superintendent is tentatively scheduled for June 6. The employment of the new superintendent is expected to begin July 1.
