New Carlisle Man Faces Additional Charges, Following High-Speed Chase

A New Carlisle man was arrested, after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase through Marshall and St. Joseph counties Thursday evening. Officials with the Marshall County Police Department say it began near the intersection of U.S. 30 and Redwood Road, when a patrolman attempted to stop Timothy Daniel Applegate, 35, for an outstanding warrant.

Applegate then reportedly led police on a high-speed chase for over 14 minutes, reaching speeds well over 100 miles per hour, until his vehicle broke down. The pursued continued on foot, until an officer was reportedly able to catch up to Applegate and take him into custody.

He now faces a felony charge of Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, as well as several misdemeanor charges. Those are in addition to his previous felony warrant out of St. Joseph County and a misdemeanor warrant out of Marshall County.

Walkerton Police, Lakeville Police, St. Joseph County Police, and Indiana State Police all assisted the Marshall County Police Department with the pursuit.
