Traffic on Michigan Street in Plymouth will slow as road crews from Walsh and Kelly, Inc. will mill and pave the road for two weeks beginning Monday, May 22.
According to Doug Moats from the Indiana Department of Transportation, crews are finishing ADA sidewalk ramps and will start the road paving project on Monday. The project will begin on 7C Road and work south on Michigan Street.
The paving portion of the project should take two weeks depending on the weather.
During the paving process, traffic will be reduced to one lane in areas, but no detours are anticipated.
The Michigan Road project is encompassed within the State Road 17 resurfacing project as it is part of the INDOT state road system. The first layer of asphalt has been applied to State Road 17 south of Plymouth to State Road 10. The second layer will be applied after the Michigan Street portion of the project.
The State Road 17 project is a part of a bundle project that includes asphalt resurfacing on U.S. 31 from State Road 10 to 13th Road. The U.S. 31 portion of the project will be completed on Nov. 3.
The total cost for both projects is $7.7 million.
