INDOT Announces Road Funding Meeting for Local Officials

City, town and county officials are invited to a meeting later this month at the INDOT LaPorte District office to learn more about available sources of road funding.

House Enrolled Act 1002 invests hundreds of millions of dollars of new funding annually in state and local road and bridge projects across Indiana. Gov. Eric Holcomb signed the bill last month.

Last year INDOT launched the Community Crossings Local Road and Bridge Matching Grant Fund. The agency awarded $146.5 million in matching funds to local governments who submitted qualifying road and bridge projects. That money is in addition to the $250 million INDOT provides to cities, towns and counties each year through the agency’s federal-aid program.

INDOT officials say the meeting will provide details and answer questions about the 2017 legislation and changes to the Community Crossings guidelines. Presenters will discuss projects eligible for funding, how to submit projects for matching funds, deadlines for project submissions, timelines for distributing funds and development of an asset manager plan.

The LaPorte District meetings are Wednesday, May 31st.
