The Culver Redevelopment Commission (CRC) met in special session Friday morning to discuss the Sand Hill Farms workforce housing resolution.
The proposed workforce housing development would feature 24 apartment units in a complex that will include one, two, or three bedroom floor plans to be built on Jefferson Street.
CRC member Rich West made a motion that the CRC provide a maximum of $400,000 toward the construction and installation of water lines, storms and sewer lines, street curbs, sidewalks and street lights. The CRC will provide the funds if the Culver Town Council’s infrastructure funding commitment of $400,000 is exhausted as well as $270,000 in Regional Cities grant funding.
As part of that motion, the CRC will agree to determine a workable tax abatement schedule to best suit the needs of the town, if feasible. Additionally, the CRC will form a committee to investigate the option of utilizing the property known as the “trailer park” for the potential of an income-based housing project.
All of the terms of the motion were approved 3-1 by the commission members. President Brandon Cooper, Tammy Shaffer and Rich West voted in favor of the motion while Sue McIntuff cast the dissenting vote. Member Tom Yuhas was not in attendance.
No other business was discussed by the board during the special session.
